#1-4, 1852 5c-25c Coat of Arms, three folded covers, 5c and 15c are single usages, other cover has 10c and 25c (latter on back of cover), tied by various
postmarks, two have the official cachets, stamps all with four margins, very fine group (Sassone #1-4).
#1, 1852 5c Black on yellow, vertical strip of three, ample to large margins around, strong impression, tied by Pontremoli 2 Ott c.d.s. and square crisscross on 1855
cover to Pietrasanta (backstamp), very fine; a particularly scarce usage; 2006 Sismondo certificate (Sassone #1).
#1-9, 1859 ½b-20b Definitives cplt. in a beautifully matched set of top right corner sheet-margin blocks of four, strong fresh paper colors, all with full original
gum (a few with slight gum toning as usual), large margins, 5b with trivial thin in the selvage only, extremely fine; a rare and handsome set of corner margin blocks; 1992 E. Diena certificate for the set (Sassone #1-9; €11,000).
#1a, 1852 ½b Black on gray blue, horizontal pair with four margins including outer dividing lines nearly all around tied by "Settembre 30" straight line cancel on
folded cover from Viterbo to San Michele, with light Viterbo straight line handstamp, ms. rate "1", sender's seal on front and back, cover with trivial age spots, otherwise very fine and scarce; signed A. Diena and accompanied by a 2006 Sismondo
certificate (Sassone #1a).
#1c, 1852 ½b Black on gray, used block of four, full dividing line at left, partial dividing lines on the other three sides, light diamond grid cancels, a fine and scarce block; 1983 E. Diena
certificate (Sassone #1).
#3, 1852 2b Black on greenish white, left sheet-margin single tied by scarce muted oval postmark on back of 1854 folded cover from Monterosi to Rome, with Monterosi
double-ring postmark on red Rome receiver, some light aging and file fold not affecting the stamp, fine; signed A. Diena and Raybaudi (Sassone #3).
#4, 1852 3b Black on brown, single with close to large margins tied by "NORMA" oval handstamp on 1860 folded cover to Rome, straight line "VELLETRI" handstamp, Rome
backstamp, light file fold not affecting stamp, very fine; signed A. Diena (Sassone #4).
#5, 5a, 9, 1852 4b Black on lemon, 4b Black on yellow and 8b black, tied by grid cancels with matching Acquapendente 1864 c.d.s. on folded cover to Rome,
straight line "ASSICURATA" handstamp, small portion of the address has been eradicated, fine; it is most unusual to have two distinct shades of the same value on one cover; signed A. Diena (Sassone #5Aa, 5Ab, 9).
#10, 1852 50b Dull blue, along with 7b Black on blue and 8b Black (#8, 9) tied by diamond grid cancels on 1858 folded letter to Naples, red oval handstamp also
tied the 7b stamp, light Rome c.d.s. and arrival backstamp in red, fine; the 50b value is rare on cover; 1990 E. Diena certificate (Sassone #8a, 9, 10).
#14, 1867 5c Black on light blue, vertical pair tied by diamond grid cancels on 1868 folded cover to Viterbo, Rome c.d.s. postmark, bold oval merchant's handstamp
on front and back, Viterbo receiving backstamp, one stamp with a small corner fault, otherwise very fine; a scarce and handsome cover; signed Bolaffi and accompanied by a 1990 E. Diena certificate; ex-Rothschild (Sassone #16).
#15, 1867 10c Black on vermilion, single with four large margins and bright color tied by Toscanella double-ring cancel on 1867 folded cover to Rome, "PIANSANO"
straight line handstamp on reverse, Viterbo backstamp, a very fine stamp on a fine cover; signed A. Diena (Sassone #17).
#15, 1867 10c Black on vermilion, single with very large margins all around tied by diamond grid cancel on 1867 folded cover to Rome, boxed "PALOMBARA" straight line

#18, 1867 80c Black on lilac rose, single with four close to large margins, tied by diamond grid cancel on 1868 folded cover to Mondovi, Rome c.d.s., "P.D."
handstamp, oval merchant's handstamp, Torino and Mondovi backstamps, trivial cover wear, fine; single frankings of the 80c value are exceedingly rare; 1983 E. Diena and 1984 Bolaffi certificates (Sassone #20a).
Sassone #25c, 1868 5c Sky blue, mint block of four, fresh color, full original gum, very fine; 2004 Colla certificate; cataloged as four singles (Scott #21 var.).
