S.G. #1/47
S.G. #1/47, Impressive collection of British Consular Mail stamps, a
remarkable assemblage of 40 different examples of these very scarce and
difficult stamps, representing the most comprehensive collection of its
kind we have ever offered, containing stamps that range in catalog value
from £65 to £1,100 each, includes all eight values from the March
1884 issue, even the elusive 4p value from this series is present where the
"1 oz." printed value was changed in manuscript to "4 oz.", with a black
handstamp, and the same stamp is present with a violet handstamp where
there is no manuscript amendment, there is tremendous representation of
1886 issues, with a wide range of types and colored handstamps present; all
stamps are unused or mint, many still retaining the small patch of original
gum in the corner, usual small faults will be found throughout the
collection due to the frail nature of the paper they were printed on,
typically these flaws are limited to the characteristic small thins,
although a couple either have creases or small tears, overall the condition
is above average for this size collection and nearly all are of very fine
appearance; an exciting opportunity to acquire an incredibly representative
collection of these elusive stamps (Scott #1/56).
