#218, 90c Purple, the single offered here is,
without question, among the very finest examples of a mint #218 in
existence, as every aspect of this extraordinary stamp could not be
improved upon, beginning with its fabulous overall freshness and brilliance
unlike any other we have seen, with truly prooflike color and impression on
immaculate paper, its centering is outstanding amid lavishly large margins,
its perforations are full and even, plus its reverse features absolutely
immaculate o.g. that has never been hinged, without a single trace
of even the slightest gum bend or skip, an extremely fine gem in every
regard; a spectacular never hinged 1888 Ninety Cent Bank Note for the
finest collection; 1999 PF certificate for a block of four, this being the
bottom right stamp.
#218, 90c Purple, an incredibly fresh and choice
mint example, featuring an overall brilliance very few others enjoy, with
truly prooflike color and impression on bright untoned paper,
extraordinarily well centered as well, with large margins all around, full
o.g. that has been lightly hinged, extremely fine; a gem mint high value
which possesses tremendous eye appeal; 2000 PF certificate.

#220 var., 2c Dark carmine, choice mint single of
this distinctive shade, being so dark in color that this could easily be
mistaken for the lake shade (#219D), brilliantly fresh, exceptionally well
centered, o.g., n.h., extremely fine; a pristine little gem; 2001 PF
certificate specifically identifying this as the Scott listed dark carmine
shade.
#220a, 2c Carmine, cap on left "2" variety, an
incredible quality bottom sheet-margin mint single of this popular variety,
possessing absolutely radiant color and being exceptionally well centered
amid huge margins for the issue, immaculate o.g., n.h., extremely fine; an
impressive gem that is certain to realize many multiples of its relatively
modest catalog value; 1998 PF certificate.
#220a, 2c Carmine, cap on left "2" variety,
virtually perfect centering amid margins that are quite lavish for this
popular variety, radiant color on bright paper, o.g., l.h., extremely fine;
especially desirable in this gem condition; 1999 PF certificate.
#220a, 2c Carmine, cap on left "2" variety,
brilliantly fresh mint single, sumptuously rich color and impression on
bright paper, well centered and margined, o.g., n.h., choice very fine;
2000 PF certificate.
#226, 10c Green, a visually stunning bottom
sheet-margin partial imprint single in a most incredible state of
freshness, possessing spectacularly rich and dark color quite unlike any
other we have seen, plus its impression is deeply etched on bright paper,
wonderfully well centered, immaculate o.g., n.h., extremely fine; 2001PF
certificate.
#227, 15c Indigo, a fabulous quality mint single
which possesses mathematically precise centering amid lavishly large
margins, gorgeous rich color and a razor-sharp impression on bright paper,
unusually even and intact perforations all around, immaculate o.g. without
a single gum bend or skip, never hinged, simply superb; an incredibly
desirable stamp especially considering how challenging this value is to
find both perfectly centered and never hinged; 1993 PF certificate.
#227, 15c Indigo, flawlessly centered within
uncharacteristically large margins, deep luxuriant color and a clean crisp
impression on unusually white paper, o.g., l.h., extremely fine and quite
choice; 2000 PF certificate.
#228, 30c Black, exceptionally fresh, well
centered, deep rich color, pristine o.g., never hinged, natural inclusion
spot at bottom, otherwise choice very fine.
#229, 90c Orange, impressively margined mint
example, being wonderfully well centered within these unusually wide
margins, especially deep luxuriant color, o.g., very lightly hinged,
extremely fine and handsome; 2000 PF certificate.
#229, 90c Orange, sumptuously rich color,
attractively centered, o.g., nearly very fine.
#230-45, E3, 1c-$5.00 Columbians cplt., a most
remarkable set of four matching registered stamped envelopes franked with
the complete Columbian issue, one of the covers bears the 50c to $5.00 on a
single cover(!), with all stamps cancelled by neat strikes of double oval
New York registry pmks., and each cover with violet boxed "New York,
N.Y./Aug 12, 1893/Reg." handstamps; among the many extraordinary aspects of
this set of covers is the fact that they have been also franked with the
Ten Cent "Columbian" special delivery issue (#E3) and all four envelopes
represent the complete set of four values of the Columbian stamped envelope
series we are aware of no other such "complete" set of all Columbian
related issues on cover), and equally impressive is the fact that each
cover is accompanied by the original registry receipt that was given to the
sender by the Post Office; this impressive set of covers has some trivial
perf. tip toning (could be professionally cleaned and restored), and for
some inexplicable reason each of the covers has a central file fold which
does affect five stamps (including the $4.00), nonetheless a unique and
eye-catching set.
#232, 3c Columbian, an exceptionally choice full
bottom margin letter "L" imprint single, featuring not only outstanding
centering amid extravagantly large margins, but its color and impression
are also far more intense than usual on bright crisp paper, pristine o.g.,
n.h., extremely fine; a stamp with great eye appeal.
#234, 5c Columbian, a fabulous quality mint
example, featuring mathematically precise centering amid lavishly large
margins, strikingly deep and luxuriant color, plus its impression is
razor-sharp on immaculate paper, uniformly even and intact perforations all
around, pristine o.g., n.h., an extremely fine gem for the perfectionist;
