#313, $5.00 Dark green, a striking jumbo used
single, possessing margins of gigantic size and being exceedingly well
centered within these incredible borders, rich color, oval cancel,
extremely fine; one of the largest margined examples of this high value we
have ever encountered; 1994 PF certificate.
#314, 320b vars., 1c Blue green and 2c Scarlet
imperforates, a single of the former and a pair of the latter, enclosed
within U.S. Automatic Vending Co. pocket Ty. I-2, the very rare
first type with green "patents pending" printed on top and bottom flaps, as
well as green printed advertising on reverse, numbered 239 on reverse,
o.g., n.h., very fine; certainly the rarest of all the fascinating stamp
"pockets"; 2000 PSE certificate; ex-Manthey.
#343, 371 vars., 1c Green and 2c Alaska-Yukon
imperforates, an exceedingly scarce unsevered strip of four of U.S.
Automatic Vending Co. pockets Ty. 2-1, numbered 240-243 on reverse,
o.g., n.h., very fine; to find even a single example of this elusive pocket
is an accomplishment, to find a strip of four is a major feat; 2000 PSE
certificate; ex-Manthey.
#371 var., 2c Alaska-Yukon imperforate, Attleboro
perforations, an enormously rare mint strip of four of this highly
desirable private perforation, being in extraordinary quality for this
normally frail item, wonderfully well centered, strong rich color, o.g.,
there are hinge reinforcements between stamps to ensure that the strip
remains intact, extremely fine; an important showpiece for the private
perforation specialist; 2000 PSE certificate; ex-Manthey.
#318, 1c Blue green coil, perf. 12 vert., a
phenomenal quality mint pair, possessing essentially perfect centering
which is virtually unheard of, as most genuine examples of this
experimental coil are found quite off center, rich characteristic color and
impression, o.g., relatively lightly hinged, extremely fine;
unquestionably one of the very finest 1908 One Cent Blue Green
horizontal coils in existence; 2001 PF certificate.
#322, 2c Carmine coil, perf. 12 vert., an
exceptionally fresh and attractive mint pair of this important coil rarity,
possessing especially rich color and a sharp impression, quite well
centered, full clean o.g. that has been only lightly hinged, left stamp has
both a diagonal bend (does not break fibers) and some central paper
crimping, both are quite minor and neither is mentioned on the accompanying
certificate, overall very fine for this; there are probably less than 150
to 175 genuine pairs still in existence; clear 1951 PF certificate.
#325, 3c Louisiana Purchase, full top margin
imprint and plate no. 2104 block of four, particularly fresh, strong color,
o.g., n.h., fine.
#326, 5c Louisiana Purchase, a fabulous
jumbo-margined mint single, possessing the largest margins imaginable for
this stamp, and being incredibly well centered within them, deep luxuriant
color and a well incised impression on bright paper contribute further to
this remarkable stamp's overall eye appeal, pristine o.g., n.h., extremely
fine; a striking gem.
#326, 5c Louisiana Purchase, precisely centered
amid extraordinarily large margins for this issue and this value in
particular, deep luxuriant color, o.g., n.h., extremely fine gem; rarely
seen this choice; 2001 PF certificate.
#326, 5c Louisiana Purchase, an impressive used
block of twelve (4 x 3), natural s.e. at left, extraordinarily well
centered and margined throughout the block, deep luxuriant color, unusual
roller bar cancels, stamps three and four in the top row with small faults,
some minor hinge reinforced perf. separations, overall a very fine and
unusually large used multiple, in fact, we have not seen a larger used
multiple of this value.
#327, 10c Louisiana Purchase, unusually well
centered within large margins for the issue, brilliantly fresh, o.g., n.h.,
extremely fine; photocopy of a 2000 PF certificate for a block of four,
this being the bottom right stamp.
