mint example with bright colors and exceptional centering, o.g., very fine
and fresh; only 170 issued; 1934 BPA certificate (S.G. #28; £350).

mint single with strong colors, well centered, o.g. which is slightly toned
(called "heavily stained" in overly harsh certificate), otherwise very

#N29, 1915 3T Gold, claret, and red brown, a
choice mint example of this rarity, exquisite colors, marvelously fresh and
well centered, o.g., l.h., extremely fine; only 48 issued; 1992
Holcombe certificate (S.G. #29; £2,250).
#N29, 1915 3T Gold, claret, and red brown, rich
colors, well centered, clearly cancelled by a Sept. 9, 1915 "Bouchir
(Depart)" c.d.s., very fine; only 48 issued, with used being far rarer
than mint; 1967 BPA certificate (S.G. #29; £2,500).
#1, 3p Red, an incredibly choice used example of
this classic stamp, exhibiting large to enormous margins, showing a portion
of the adjoining stamp at bottom, lovely orange red shade with detailed
impression on strong and distinct laid paper, wonderfully postmarked by a
crisp centrally struck 7-ring target cancel, extremely fine and
particularly choice (Unitrade C$1,400.00).
#3, 1851 12p Black on laid paper, an attractive
example of this great world rarity, strong color, usual target cancellation
which is light enough to leave most of the fine detail of the printing
visible, traces of red postmark at left, large margins all around except
lower left corner slightly clipped, otherwise fine and sound; 1960 BPA
certificate (Unitrade C$50,000.00).
#5, 1852-55 6p Slate gray on wove paper, nice
color with usual violet tones, ample to large margins, neat cancellation,
very fine (Unitrade C$1,000.00).
#5b, 1852-55 6p Greenish gray, vivid color with
strong greenish hue, large margins all around, slightly truncated top left
corner still well clear of frame line, cancelled by target and additionally
in red, very fine (Unitrade C$2,000.00).
#7, 1855 10p Blue, a splendid example of this
lovely classic stamp, resplendent color, large to enormous margins on fresh
white paper, tiny corner crease at bottom right barely infringes on frame
line, tied to piece by target an 1858 Montreal four-ring "21" numeral
cancel, stamp lifted and hinged in place, choice very fine (Unitrade
C$2,000.00).
#8, 1857 1/2p Rose, fresh pastel shade, full to
mostly large margins, cancelled by part straight-line "Paid" h.s., very
fine; 1966 BPA certificate (Unitrade C$750.00).
#9, 1857 7 1/2p Green, gorgeous color in the
distinctive yellow green shade, enormous margins all around, a little
"ding" in one place at bottom margin but still well clear of frame line,
lightly cancelled, very fine (Unitrade C$3,750.00).
#10, 1857 6p Reddish purple on very thick soft wove
paper, cold shade and sharp impression, large to huge margins all
around, bold Montreal four-ring "21" numeral cancel, faint trace of corner
crease at top left, still very fine (Unitrade C$6,000.00).
#19, 17c Blue, unused, exceptionally fresh, with
deep intense color and a vivid impression, unusually well centered as well,
regummed, extremely fine and attractive; 2000 PF certificate (S.G. #42,
£700).
#20b, 1864 2c Rose, imperforate, block of four,
without gum as issued, vivid color and an unusually clean impression, large
margins on three sides,just touching at top right, very fine; only one
sheet of 100 stamps was issued imperforate (Unitrade C$5,500.00).
#28i, 12 1/2c Milky blue, a magnificent quality
mint example of this rare and distinctive shade variety, possessing not
only a remarkable overall freshness, but the stamp is exceedingly well
centered as well, with large margins all around, gorgeous rich color and a
crisp impression on bright paper, full clean o.g. that is lightly hinged,
extremely fine; a highly desirable stamp as Large Queens simply are not
usually found both this choice and with full original gum; the milky blue
shade is listed in Unitrade, but unpriced in this quality, cataloged simply
as a very fine example in a normal blue shade; 2000 PF certificate.
#45, 1897 10c Brown red, an absolutely radiant
left sheet-margin vertical partial imprint pair, from the 2nd Ottawa
Printing, remarkably well centered, and far better than most amid large
margins, striking rich color and deeply etched impression, full and intact
perforations all around, each stamp with lightly hinged o.g., extremely
fine; seldom seen this nice (Unitrade C$1,000.00+).
#50, 1897 1/2c Jubilee, left sheet-margin single,
exceedingly well centered within large margins, deep intense "jet" black
color on fresh white paper, o.g., n.h., extremely fine (Unitrade
C$375.00).
#54, 1897 5c Jubilee, perfectly centered within
large balanced margins, strong rich color, o.g., n.h., extremely fine and
choice; photocopy of a 2001 PF certificate for a pair, this being the left
stamp (Unitrade C$180.00).
#56, 1897 8c Jubilee, outstanding centering amid
extravagantly large margins, strong rich color, o.g., n.h., extremely fine
