extraordinarily fresh and choice mint example, possessing outstanding
centering amid extravagantly large margins, strong rich colors (especially
the orange red which is unaffected by the usual oxidization), unblemished
o.g., n.h., extremely fine; a scarce and desirable stamp in this highly
select never hinged condition.
#524, $5.00 Deep green and black, an
extraordinarily handsome and choice centerline block of four, featuring
exceptional centering and large margins throughout, marvelously bright and
fresh, pristine o.g., n.h., very fine-extremely fine; 1985 PF
certificate.
#534B, 2c Carmine offset imperforate, Ty. VII, a
particularly desirable left sheet-margin plate no. 12809 example of this
very rare stamp, with the plate number 12809 being used exclusively on the
Ty. VII imperforate printings, providing exceptional proof of
identification, besides the lavishly large sheet margin at left, the other
margins are wide and well balanced, deep luxuriant color and impression,
o.g., lightly hinged, extremely fine; 2001 PF certificate.
#534B, 2c Carmine offset imperforate, Ty. VII,
four large to very large margins, strong rich color on bright paper, o.g.,
very lightly hinged, an extremely fine example of this rare 20th century
stamp; photocopy of a 1988 PF certificate for a horizontal pair, this being
the right stamp.
#534B, 2c Carmine offset imperforate, Ty. VII, a
pristine mint horizontal pair of this very rare stamp, being in a true
"post office" state of preservation, featuring color that is both intense
and radiant on immaculate paper, very large to huge margins all around,
immaculate o.g., n.h., an extremely fine gem; easily one of the finest
never hinged pairs of this important 20th century rarity we have ever
offered;
#534B, 2c Carmine offset imperforate, Ty. VII, a
spectacular used example of this truly rare stamp, featuring four
absolutely gigantic margins unlike any other we have seen, deep rich color,
very light and unobtrusive slogan postmark, superb; a remarkable stamp of
incomprehensible size; certainly one of the finest used examples
extant; 1977 and 2000 PF certificates.
#536, 1c Gray green offset, extraordinarily well
centered within huge jumbo margins, brilliantly fresh, o.g., n.h.,
extremely fine and striking; 2001 PSE certificate for a strip of three from
which this stamp was taken.
#546 var., 2c Deep carmine rose coil waste, Ty.
III, a goregous mint example of this distinctive shade variety, the
first such certified example we have ever seen, boasting lavishly large and
wonderfully well balanced margins which are most uncharacteristic of the
coil waste issues, deep luxuriant color, o.g., n.h., an extremely fine
large-margined gem; 2001 PF certificate specifically identifying this as
the Deep carmine rose shade.
#547, $2.00 Carmine and black, gem mint single,
incredibly well centered within large margins, especially bright and fresh
colors, o.g., n.h., extremely fine; 2001 PF certificate.
#573a, $5.00 Carmine lake and dark blue,
centerline block of four, extraordinarily well centered throughout,
sumptuously rich colors and prooflike impressions, pristine o.g., n.h.,
extremely fine; an exceptionally handsome and desirable centerline block in
this gem quality.
#595, 2c Carmine coil waste, an extraordinarily
scarce top sheet-margin used block of four, being exceptionally well
centered (particularly for a coil waste issue), plus its color is
spectacularly intense and vibrant, very light and unobtrusive town c.d.s.,
extremely fine; very few #595 used blocks exist, with this being the
finest known; 2001 PF certificate.
#617-19, 1c-5c Lexington-Concord cplt., a most
impressive perfectly matched set of jumbo-margined mint singles, each
having been selected for their flawless centering amid enormously large
margins, plus each is wonderfully fresh and bright, with strong rich
colors, o.g., n.h., extremely fine; a gem set; 2c accompanied by a 1994 PSE
certificate, 5c accompanied by a 1990 PF certificate and is
ex-Morris.
#634A, 2c Carmine, Ty. II, a magnificent quality
bottom left corner plate no. 19644 single, possessing absolutely perfect
centering amid the largest margins we have ever seen on this typically
tightly margined stamp, additionally this remarkable copy boasts true
radiant color in an especially intense shade, pristine o.g., n.h., superb;
a exciting condition rarity for the finest collection; 1995 PF certificate
for a plate block of four from which this stamp was taken.
#704-15, 1c-10c Washington Bicentennial cplt., a
most remarkable set of singles assembled by a fastidious collector, each
selected for their outstanding centering and lavishly large margins (many
are true jumbos), brilliantly fresh, o.g., n.h., extremely fine; normally a
set of these is not valuable enough to offer as an auction lot, however
this set is certainly well out of the ordinary and deserving of special
attention.
#832b, $1.00 Purple and black, watermarked "USIR" in
error, gem mint example, featuring exceptionally wide and well balanced
margins, brilliantly fresh, o.g., n.h., extremely fine; seldom seen this
choice; 2001 PSE certificate for a strip of four from which this stamp was
taken.
#1137a, 1137d, 8c Reuter, ocher omitted and all
colors omitted, a striking left sheet-margin transitional strip of four
containing single examples of each of the two color omitted errors, from
the unique sheet which had a piece of paper on top of the sheet during the
printing process, this strip is positions 9-12, position 10 is the ocher
omitted error of which there are only three such errors known from the
sheet, while position 9 is the all colors omitted error, of which there
are only six examples on the sheet, o.g., n.h., very fine; a
spectacular and immensely rare missing color multiple error; the ocher
omitted error (#1137a) catalogs $3,750.00, while the all colors omitted
error (#1137d) catalogs $2,500.00; photocopy of a 1996 PF certificate for
the unique complete sheet before it was broken up.
#1384e, 6c Christmas, yellow omitted, a pristine
mint example of this very rare color missing error, which also shows just
faint traces of the red and green in the design, o.g., n.h., extremely
fine; 1995 PF certificate.
#1467c, 8c Wildlife Conservation se-tenant block of
four, green and blue omitted, bottom right corner margin block example
of this very rare error, o.g., n.h., extremely fine; the rarest of all the
color missing errors on this issue, as only eight blocks are believed to
exist; 1973 APS and 1998 PF certificates.
