2347 O 20 image#20, 1910 "5Pf" provisional surcharge on 3pf Brown, produced due to a shortage of 5pf stamps that existed even after all the regular German 5pf stamps were used from the ship post offices of two German ships lying in port at Ponape, a well centered example showing portions of two overprints that were applied as if shifted to left, though this is a handstamp overprint, contains portion of Ponape cancel which shows a day date of "12" which was the day in July 1910 when this was used, extremely fine; a rare issue that is not often encountered, only 500 were produced and the number surviving is significantly less than that; signed Bothe BPP and accompanied by a 1998 Ronald Steuer certificate (Michel #20; on piece €4,000).
