extra-large to huge jumbo margins being particularly wide, plus unusually
well centered within those margins, strong rich color with detailed

#188, 10c Brown, with secret mark, a phenomenal
mint example in a condition that is almost unheard of on this surprisingly
difficult and truly rare Bank Note, possessing outstanding centering amid
lavishly large margins, but even more impressive is this stamp's fantastic
overall brilliance and freshness, with absolutely stunning color in an
intense shade, plus its impression is truly prooflike on pristine paper,
immaculate o.g., never hinged, an extremely fine gem in every
regard; quite likely the finest mint never hinged #188 in existence;
the rarity of this stamp in choice never hinged condition cannot be
overemphasized as, unlike other values from this same Bank Note series
which can sometimes be found never hinged, the Ten Cent value is almost
never seen offered; in fact, we can find no major "name" collection sold
recently or in the distant past that had a never hinged single in the
condition that even remotely compares to the remarkable stamp offered here;
2000 PF certificate.
#188, 10c Brown, with secret mark, handsome mint
example of a stamp that is seldom found even in the most advanced
collections of mint United States stamps, featuring sumptuously rich color
and a sharp detailed impression, plus it is quite well centered within
large margins, full clean o.g., lightly hinged, very fine and exceedingly
choice; a true rarity in this quality; 1995 PF certificate.
#188, 10c Brown, with secret mark, well centered
within large margins, rich luxuriant color, full o.g., lightly hinged, a
very fine example of this very scarce and difficult stamp; 1997 PF
certificate.
#188, 10c Brown, with secret mark, unused,
showing a very faint secret mark, flawlessly centered within very large
margins, strong fresh color and impression on bright paper, trivial
internal wrinkle, otherwise extremely fine; clear 1981 PF certificate as a
#187 without secret mark.
#188, 10c Brown, with secret mark, gorgeous used
single with intense color and impression, exceptionally well centered
within large margins, and possessing an impressive and rare pink
target cancel in an intense iridescent color, additionally it is
beautifully socked on the nose giving this stamp wonderful eye appeal,
extremely fine; this cancel color is not listed in Scott; 1997 PF
certificate specifying that the cancel is pink.
#188 var., 10c Yellow brown, with secret mark, a
gorgeous appearing mint example of this rare and highly distinctive shade
variety, being the only certified example of this stamp we have ever
seen, possessing lovely rich color in a shade unlike any other,
prooflike impression as well, marvelously well centered within large
margins, slightly disturbed o.g. and a tiny thin speck, otherwise extremely
fine; clear 1981 PF certificate and 2003 PF certificate, both specifically
identifying this as the yellow brown shade; ex-Chapin.
#188 var., 10c Black brown, with secret mark,
unused horizontal pair, well centered within large margins, strong rich
color in this distinctive shade, crisp impression, very fine; certified
examples of the black brown shade are particularly elusive; 2004 PF
certificate specifically identifying the shade.
#189, 15c Red orange, an incredibly fresh and
choice mint example, in a remarkable state of preservation, featuring
bright vibrant color on immaculately white paper, outstanding centering
within unusually large margins, pristine o.g. without a single gum bend or
skip, never hinged, extremely fine; a gem for the perfectionist; 1990 PF
certificate for a strip of three, this being the right stamp.
#189, 15c Red orange, a most impressive mint
single, possessing enormously large margins and being marvelously well
centered within these oversized borders, brilliant color and a clean
impression on immaculate white paper, full o.g., trivial h.r., extremely
fine.
#189, 15c Red orange, incredibly vibrant color
and a prooflike impression, very well centered within large margins, o.g.,
faint trace of hinging, extremely fine; 2004 PF certificate.
