The Philip Lewert Collection - June 15, 2006

The Lewert sale is a single-owner auction featuring selected United States stamps and plate blocks assembled by a dedicated collector. The auction consists exclusively of mint stamps in premium condition - with one notable exception, a lovely used 24c Grilled Bank Note (Scott #142), which is considered among the finest in existence.

Several of Mr. Lewert's stamps - particularly the 1875 Re-issues of the 1861 Issue and the 1870-87 Bank Notes - are among the finest to appear at auction in quite some time. Also featured in the auction is a small, but select group of exceptional quality plate blocks.
