four adhesives, including three air posts, on 50h Deep green view postal
card with photo of pioneer airplane, all tied by "Praha/19Z. III. 32"
c.d.s., violet flight cachet and red Berlin connecting flight cachet,
backstamped Pernambuco, very fine (Sieger €450; Michel #234b).
Sieger #254Aa, 1934 Third South America Flight
(Argentina Flight), handsome registered cover with three adhesives tied
by "Cotonou/Dahomey/12 Avr 34" c.d.s., routed through Friedrichshafen with
transit c.d.s. via Paris and Frankfurt, violet flight cachet, backstamped
Pernambuco, very fine; an exceptionally rare cover as this small country
has only four Zeppelin postings listed by Sieger including this desirable
1934 Argentina Flight with pictorial cachet (Sieger €1,200; Michel
#370a).
Sieger #57P, 1930 Pan-American Flight, three
attractive high values tied to cover by "Danzig 5/Luftpost/14. 5. 30"
ovals, flown on the round trip from Friedrichshafen to Friedrichshafen, red
German and violet American flight cachets, backstamped Friedrichshafen,
very fine and handsome cover; only 35 covers flown on the round trip
(Sieger €850; Michel #68).
Sieger #57P, 1930 Pan-American Flight, four
adhesives attractively tied to card for the round flight from
Friedrichshafen to Friedrichshafen by "Danzig 5/Luftpost/5. 5. 30" ovals,
red German and violet American flight cachets, backstamped Friedrichshafen,
minor wrinkle to card, very fine; only 57 cards flown on the round trip
(Sieger €850; Michel #68).
Sieger #57R, 1930 Pan-American Flight, two
adhesives tied to 10pf Green pictorial postal card by "Danzig
5/Luftpost/18. 5. 30" ovals, the scarcer connection through Berlin via
Seville, flown on the leg from Seville to Pernambuco, red boxed Berlin
connecting flight cachet and red German flight cachet, backstamped, very
fine and attractive card; a total of only fifteen items were flown on
this leg through Berlin and Seville, this being one of nine cards; 2001
Simon BPP certificate (Sieger €750; Michel #64c).
Sieger #57U, 1930 Pan-American Flight, six air
posts including four high values, all tied to cover by "Danzig
5/Luftpost/18. 5. 30" ovals, the scarcer connection through Berlin via
Seville, flown on the leg from Seville to Lakehurst, red boxed Berlin
connecting flight cachet and red German flight cachet, backstamped, very
fine and nicely franked cover; a total of only fourteen items were flown
on this leg through Berlin and Seville, this being one of seven covers
(Sieger €1200; Michel #64c).
Sieger #73, 1930 Spitzbergen Flight, three air
posts tied to cover by "Danzig 5/Luftpost/23. 6. 30" oval cancels, green
flight cachet, backstamped Hammerfest, faint wrinkles at top of cover, not
affecting stamps or markings, very fine (Sieger €450; Michel #89).
Sieger #104, 1931 Egyptian/Palastine Flight,
Zeppelin photo card with four air posts tied by "Danzig 5/Luftpost/4. 4.
31." ovals, Friedrichshafen transit, flown to Egypt with Cairo Zeppelin
c.d.s. of the April 11th, then on into Palestine and backstamped Tel-Aviv
on April 12th, red flight cachet, very fine and attractive (Sieger
€350; Michel 164/165).
Sieger #119E, 1931 Polar Flight, 1G Olive green
air post along with an additional adhesive, tied to card by "Danzig
5/Luftpost/15. 7. 31." oval, Friedrichshafen transit and flown on the leg
to Leningrad, backstamped there on July 25th, red flight cachet, very fine
with all markings strong and on the front of the card (Sieger €900;
Michel #203a).
Sieger #119F, 1931 Polar Flight, three air posts
tied to card by "Danzig 5/Luftpost/13. 7. 31." oval, Friedrichshafen
transit and flown on the leg to Icebreaker "Malyguin", backstamped there on
July 27th, red flight cachet, couple toned perf. tips on one stamp,
otherwise very fine (Sieger €900; Michel #204a).
Sieger #119F, 1931 Polar Flight, lovely cover
with 2 1/2G Violet brown air post along with 2G Blue and black tied by
"Danzig 5/Luftpost/15. 7. 31." oval, Friedrichshafen transit and flown on
the leg to Icebreaker "Malyguin", backstamped there on July 27th, red
flight cachet, exceptionally fresh and attractive, very fine (Sieger
€900; Michel #204a).
Sieger #207Ba, 1933 Italian Flight, registered
card with two air posts and one other adhesive tied by
"Danzig-/Langfuhr/Luftpost/20. 5. 33." ovals, red German flight cachet and
Friedrichshafen transit c.d.s., backstamped with Rome Zeppelin machine
cancel, very fine (Sieger €450; Michel #302).
Sieger #238E, 1933 Chicago Flight, imprinted
registered card for this flight, attractively franked with six air posts
tied by "Danzig 5/ Luftpost/12. 10. 33." air post ovals, red German flight
cachet and Berlin connecting flight cachet, flown on the leg to Chicago,
backstamped, very fine with all markings on the front of the card;
ex-Belinkoff (Sieger €550; Michel #352b).
Sieger #427B, 1936 Olympic Flight of the
"Hindenburg", attractively franked card for the flight from Frankfurt
to Berlin with four adhesives neatly tied by "Danzig/Langfuhr/30. 7. 36."
c.d.s., well struck magenta flight cachet, backstamped Berlin, choice very
fine with all the markings on the address side; in general Danzig is one of
the more common treaty states being closely related to Germany, however the
1936 Olympic Flight is the striking exception being one of the key items
for a collection of this flight (Sieger €1,250; Michel #32Ia).
Sieger #5A, 1912 Copenhagen Flight of the "Hansa" (LZ
13), 10o Deep rose tied by "Kjobenhaven/19. 9.12." c.d.s. to a cover
posted to Harlev, Denmark, violet on-board cachet of the "Hansa" on that
date, backstamped, faint edge creasing, very fine; the "Hansa", like the
"Schwaben", "Viktoria Luise" and "Sashen", made numerous flights around
Germany from 1912 to 1914 until the onset of World War I, this
international flight to Copenhagen early in her career is the sole
exception to her normal domestic itinerary, it was actually a trial flight
for a planned service between Denmark and Germany that never materialized,
certainly one of the key pioneer Zeppelin flights with postings from both
Germany and Denmark, this latter by far the rarer; 1997 Sieger BPP
certificate (Sieger €3,000; Michel #13Ec).
Sieger #5A, 1912 Copenhagen Flight of the "Hansa" (LZ
13), 1o Orange and "4 Ore" surcharge on 8o Slate and carmine making the
5o domestic rate for a post card, tied to multicolor view card of Hamburg
by "Kjobenhaven/19. 9.12." c.d.s, addressed to Viskinge, Denmark, violet
on-board cachet of the "Hansa" on that date, faint staining with a few
toned perf. tips and small paper clip impression at left, very fine and
rare pioneer international flight; 1987 Sieger BPP and 1994 Debo BPP
certificates (Sieger €3,000; Michel #13Ec).
