only this by British packet paying the 70c premium British packet rate to France, tied to 1875 folded cover by clear black lozenge cancels, "Guadeloupe/Moule/25 Mars 75" double-circle c.d.s. below, Pointe-a-Pitre British packet sorting transit c.d.s.
on the reverse, black boxed "PD" handstamp and attractive blue packet entry transit on the front, backstamped Bordeaux, choice very fine; a select example with clear markings of this scarcer British packet posting from Moule; ex-Stone.
French Colonies Yvert #14, 22, 1872-73 15c Bister and 1c Olive green on pale blue horizontal strip of five, an impressive franking with the scarce 1c Ceres,
strip has large margins all around including a portion of the sheet margin at left, 15c just cutting into the design at top, tied together on 1875 entire folded letter to Pointe-a-Pitre by three central strikes of the black lozenge cancels,
"Guadeloupe/Moule/16 Juil. 75" double-circle c.d.s. and backstamped with similar Pointe-a-Pitre c.d.s. on the same day, boxed "P.P." handstamp, vertical file fold and tiny stain affecting the strip, not detracting from this cover's very fine
appearance; an exceptionally scarce franking use to make up the 20c domestic rate; ex-Stone.
French Colonies Yvert #23, 1872 25c Blue horizontal strip of three and single, mostly clear to large margins, tied to 1875 folded cover to France by black lozenge
cancels with matching "Guadeloupe/Moule/24 Juil 75" double-circle c.d.s., similar Pointe-a-Pitre transit on the reverse, carried by French packet and marked at the second weight level, black boxed "PD" plus Line "B" octagonal transit on the reverse,
backstamped Bordeaux, small edge tear at bottom, a very fine double-rate cover.
French Colonies Yvert #13, 1871 40c Orange, attractive single franking with four large even margins, neatly tied to 1876 entire folded letter to France by black lozenge
cancel, matching "Guadeloupe/Moule/10 Aout 76" double-circle c.d.s. at left, Pointe-a-Pitre French packet sorting transit c.d.s. along with Line "B" packet transit on the reverse, backstamped Bordeaux, insignificant tone spot to cover, very fine and
choice; Guadeloupe joined the U.P.U. on July 1, 1876 and the initial foreign mail rate was 40c for 15 grams; this cover is a very early August example of this rate and an especially attractive cover; signed R. Calves, Sorani.
French Colonies Yvert #22, 1872 15c Bister, single franking with virtually clear to large margins all around, tied to entire folded letter from Petit Bourg to
Pointe-a-Pitre by black 7x7 lozenge cancel, black "Guadeloupe/Petit-Bourg/7 Oct. (73)" double-circle c.d.s. at right, matching boxed "P.P", blue Pointe-a-Pitre backstamp the next day, very fine; an unusual single franking, while Petit Bourg on the
east coast of Basse Terre is only a short distance from Pointe-a-Pitre it would not be considered a local posting and the normal domestic rate was 20c; a rare cover from this small town.
1874 Petit Bourg paid stampless cover, a similar petite entire folded letter to the previous from the same correspondent five months later with "Guadeloupe/Petit-Bourg/5
Fevr 74" double-circle c.d.s., matching boxed "P.P", backstamped Pointe-a-Pitre the next day, very fine; the domestic rate was paid in cash and presumed to be 20c; a nice companion to the previous cover from this tiny burg.
French Colonies Yvert #18, 23a, 1872-76 10c Brown on rose and 25c Blue, Ty. III, four-margined single of each tied to 1878 folded cover from Petit Bourg to
France paying the short-lived 35c U.P.U. rate, both tied by single strike of "Guadeloupe/Petit-Bourg/9 Sept. 78" double-circle c.d.s. with clear matching strike at bottom left, Pointe-a-Pitre French packet sorting c.d.s. transit on the reverse, minor
gum stain to the 10c value; very fine and attractive cover; a rare transatlantic usage from this tiny town; ex-Dubus.
French Colonies Yvert #17, 22, 1872 5c Green on blue and 15c Bister, singles with well clear to large margins all around, 5c with small nick in bottom margin, tied to
attractive 1876 domestic cover from the tiny town of Petit Canal to Pointe-a-Pitre by delicate black 7x7 point lozenge cancel, black "Guadeloupe/Petit Canal/3 Juil. 76" double-circle c.d.s. at bottom left with matching boxed "P.P" handstamp,
backstamped the same day, very fine; a rare and elusive cover from this small village on the west coast of Grande Terre; ex-Levett.
French Colonies Yvert #3, 3a, 1859 10c Yellow bister, vertical strip of three and pair with one sideways, both multiples with well clear to large margins, tied to
small 1863 cover to France from the tiny village of Pointe Noire by bold 7x7 point black lozenge cancels, clear strike of early "Pointe-Noire/Guadeloupe24 Fev 1863" rimless black c.d.s. at right, similar Basse Terre transit on the reverse,
carried by French packet with a portion of the red entry c.d.s., black "P.P" and red "PD" boxed handstamps, the several transits and backstamps on the reverse are intact though a small portion of backflap is missing, edge wear to cover causing a
couple of trivial flaws to the strip and small cover repair at left, a fine and very early Eagle cover from Pointe Noire; this cover is remarkable in several ways, first it possesses an incredibly rare franking paying the early 50c French packet rate
per 7.5 grams with the extremely rare sideways cliche plate variety, this is the only recorded example of the "timbre couche" variety used from Pointe Noire;
French Colonies Yvert #3, 1859 10c Yellow bister horizontal pair with large to extra large margins all around showing a portion of the adjacent stamps at top, on cover
front from Port Louis to Pointe-a-Pitre with a perfect central strike of "P.P" handstamp (impression shows through to the reverse of the cover front), nicely struck "Guadeloupe/Port-Louis/12 Fevr. 68" double-circle c.d.s. below, unobtrusive
edge tear to the front at top right , very fine and handsome; the small village of Port Louis is located on the west coast of Grande Terre and mail in this early Eagle period from there is exceptionally elusive; furthermore the use of the boxed paid
handstamp as a canceller is highly unusual and very rare; ex-Levett.

absolutely beautiful cover to France by clear delicate 8x8 point black lozenge cancels, excellent strike of "Guadeloupe/Port-Louis/25 Juin 75" double-circle c.d.s. and matching boxed "PD" handstamp, directed to go by British packet with "Voir
anglaise" in manuscript and 70c paid for that service, however "Paq. Fr./Pointe-a-Pitre/25 Juin 75" sorting transit on the reverse and carried by French packet which only required 50c, thus overpaid by 20c, neat blue St. Nazaire entry transit and
backstamped Paris, extremely fine; a gorgeous and rare cover from this small village excelling in all of its aspects from its remarkably choice quality to its unusual overpaid usage; illustrated on page 60 of Robert Stone's book.
French Colonies Yvert #44, 1880 25c Bister Yellow, Ty. II, single franking with four large margins, tied to 1882 cover to France paying the 25c U.P.U. rate by
"Guadeloupe/Port Louis/15 Mars. 82" double-circle c.d.s. with additional strike at right, carried by French packet with Line "B" red packet entry c.d.s., Pointe-a-Pitre and Paris transits on the reverse, backstamped Besancon, light cover folds not
affecting the stamp or markings, very fine; another scarce usage from this small village in northwestern Grande Terre; illustrated on page 87 of Robert Stone's book.
1860 Sainte Anne prepaid stampless cover, exceptionally choice quality 1860 cover to France by British packet with the 50c rate paid in cash, extremely rare
black "Ste. Anne/Guadeloupe/10 Avril 1860" large rimless c.d.s. with exceptionally well struck similar Basse Terre transit on the reverse, black "P.P" and red "PD" boxed handstamps plus Calais entry transits on the front and Paris-Bordeaux railroad
transit on the reverse, backstamped Bordeaux, extremely fine; a remarkably rare cover being prepaid in this early period probably prior to receiving stamps in this small hamlet, extraordinarily rare in this wonderful quality with attractive markings
on a lovely fresh cover.
French Colonies Yvert #3, 1859 10c Yellow bister vertical pair, mostly large margins, just touching at bottom, tied to attractive 1866 entire folded letter from
Sainte Anne to Pointe-a-Pitre by exceptionally delicate 7x7 point black lozenge cancels with nicely struck "Ste. Anne/(Guadeloupe)/8 Mai 1866" rimless c.d.s. (a different postmark with smaller letters than on the previous 1860 stampless cover),
matching "P.P" handstamp paid marking, very fine and choice; a rare domestic cover paying the 20c internal rate during the Eagle period from this tiny town on the southern coast of Grande Terre; signed R. Calves.
French Colonies Yvert #3, 4, 1859-65 10c Yellow Bister and 20c Blue horizontal strip of three, attractive franking with well clear to very large margins all
around on both values, paying the 70c British packet rate on a neat cover to France from the small village of Sainte Anne by 7x7 fine-point lozenge cancels, well struck black "Guadeloupe/Ste. Anne/25 Juin 1871" smaller double-circle c.d.s.,
Pointe-a-Pitre British packet sorting transit on the reverse and blue British packet entry transit on the front, choice very fine and handsome Eagle cover; an exceptionally rare usage from this small town paying a premium to go by British packet
rather than French packet and a very rare marking that is quite possibly the earliest recorded example of this small format c.d.s. from Sainte Anne.
French Colonies Yvert #17, 19, 1872 5c Green on blue and 15c Bister, two singles of the former (pre-affixing tear to one) and horizontal pair of the scarce 15c
with large numerals, all with clear to large margins, tied to 1877 French packet cover from Sainte Anne to Paris paying the 40c first U.P.U. rate, stamps are tied by two neat strikes of the black lozenge cancels, matching black
"Guadeloupe/Ste. Anne/26 Dec. 1877" double-circle c.d.s., Pointe-a-Pitre French packet sorting c.d.s. on the reverse and neat blue St. Nazaire entry transit on the front, backstamped, small edge tears at top of cover from opening, not affecting the
stamps, very fine; not only is this a very rare usage from this small village but the 15c Bister with large numerals is rare on cover.
French Colonies Yvert #50, 1881 10c Black on lilac on Guadeloupe formula postal card, an incredibly rare posting from the tiny island of Saint Barthelemy (St. Barts),
the stamp is tied by rare "Guadeloupe/Saint Barthelemy/14 Juil. 87" double-circle c.d.s. with additional clear strike at bottom left, Basse Terre transit on the reverse and Calais-Paris railway transit on the front along with Stockholm receiving
c.d.s., small mounting marks on the reverse, very fine and choice; the Guadeloupe dependency island of St. Barthelemy is one of the smallest and most remote islands that is administered by Guadeloupe, being 250 kilometers northwest of the main
islands of Guadeloupe, it is also one of the rarest post offices in the colony and this card is historically relevant going to Sweden as this island was sold to Sweden by France in 1784 and bought back by France in 1878, just nine years previous to
this card; a wonderful rarity of Guadeloupe.
French Colonies 1885 15c Blue on gray letter card, properly used domestically within the colony with lengthy handwritten message from the tiny island of Saint
Barthelemy to Basse Terre, indicia cancelled with rare "Guadeloupe/Saint Barthelemy/15 Fevr. 90" double-circle c.d.s. with additional strike at bottom left, backstamped Basse Terre, very fine; mail from St. Barts is among the most elusive from
Guadeloupe and any nineteenth century posting is exceptionally rare.
1864 Saint Claude unpaid stampless entire letter from the small town of Saint Claude, not far from the city of Basse Terre, entire folded letter sent by British
packet at the unpaid rate of 80c, rare "St. Claude/Basse Terre/9 Mai 1864" rimless c.d.s. at left, very unusual blue "8" handstamp for 8 decimes due and matching rare blue Basse Terre rimless c.d.s. transit of the same date on the reverse, Paris
transits on the reverse and backstamped Saint Cosme, slight cover soiling, very fine; another example of this unusual marking having the name of Basse Terre instead of the usual country designation of Guadeloupe; signed Roumet.
French Colonies Yvert #3, 1859 10c Yellow bister, two singles with mostly clear to large margins paying the 20c domestic rate, tied to 1864 petite cover from the small
village of Saint Claude to the tiny islands of Les Saintes, stamps tied by delicate 7x7 point black lozenge cancels, rare "St. Claude/Basse Terre/13 Aout 1864" rimless c.d.s. at left and unusual "P.P" handstamp that is not boxed, very
fine; this rare postmark is highly unusual having the name of the island of Basse Terre instead of the usual country designation of Guadeloupe; an immensely rare Eagle posting from this small village post office; signed C. Jamet; ex-Levett.
