Sassone SG#2b, 1853 9c Black on gray violet, double impression, without gum as are all existing copies, an extraordinarily choice example of this rarity with
large balanced margins showing the full dividing line at top, the impressions are strong and show the distinct doubling of the impression all over the design, the paper color is rich and the stamp is especially fresh, extremely fine; an incredibly
rare variety that is not listed in Scott; the Sassone catalog value is for a stamp without gum as they do not exist with gum and it is noted there that only two examples exist without defects and two with faults, this being one of the two finest,
if not the finest, examples known; signed E(milio) Diena, A. Diena and E(nzo) D(iena), plus accompanied by 1983 Enzo Diena certificate (Scott #PR2 var.).(Image)

Modena mint and used collection of over 40 singles plus a couple of blocks (Sassone #1/18, SG2/5), mint and used are about equal in number and most have been selected for their attractive appearance, nearly all are with four margins and some
have one or more dividing lines showing, most are the normal stamps though we note a couple of varieties including "8" for "80" on the 80c Buff of the Provisional Government issue, also includes some of the newspaper tax stamps including a rather
nicely margined 10c Black with horizontal dividing line (#PR5), a few small flaws are present, most are fine-very fine or better; some signed by various experts (Scott #1/14, PR2-5; Scott catalog value in excess of $8,500.00).

Sassone # 15
Sassone #15, 1860 1/2t Blue, an attractive used example of the extremely rare "Trinacria", three extraordinarily large margins plus a full ample margin at left, lovely
blue color and possessing a nice sharp impression being one of the nicer executed positions with a strong distinct "T", light vertical "Annullato" boxed handstamp at left, very fine and handsome single of this desirable stamp; this value was created
by changing the plates for the first 1/2gr Rose to the new value by altering the "G" to a "T", this stamp was in use for only four weeks before the central insignia of the Kingdom of Naples was erased and was replaced by the Cross of Savoy making the
"Trinacria" a very rare stamp indeed; signed A. Diena and accompanied by his 1972 certificate (Scott #8; $11,500.00).(Image)

Naples extensive used collection neatly mounted in an album with a total of 400 stamps and collected according to Sassone with all the different shades identified, included are some multiples, mostly pairs, some on piece including several
values on one piece and over 27 covers including several with numerous low denominations making up a higher rate, of particular value in this collection for the purpose of reference is that virtually all the stamps have been identified and
expertized by Raybaudi, virtually all stamps have been signed and the catalog number noted in pencil on the reverse, plus there are 20 certificates for more important stamps and covers, the vast majority of the stamps are the lower less expensive
values, but even there, since a large number of the shades are present, there are quite a number of these that have significant premium value and many are in nice quality as well, of the higher more valuable denominations there are three 20gr and
five 50gr values plus three of the 1/2t Blue Cross of Savoy, all of these have certificates and the last two better values all have flaws or small repairs (mainly small filled thins) but attractive appearance, condition is quite varied though the
vast majority are of very fine appearance and a great many of the more modest values are truly very fine or better; a valuable collection, not only for the many nice stamps that are present but also for the reference of all the color and plate
identification, well worth examining (Scott #1/9; Scott catalog value, which does not list many of the scarcer shades, is well in excess of $50,000.00 and Sassone value for just the used stamps as identified is over €100,000).
