Balance of the Donaldson correspondence (see Bermuda) incl 5 covers to
Birch Cove, Nova Scotia that were carried outside the mails by favor. All
were headlined H.M.S. Medea from various ports incl Halifax(2) one dated
Dec 3, 1863 mentions "...our letters are ordered to be sent to the care of
Postmaster at St. Thomas" while the other dated Aug 15, 1864 states
"...when we left Nassau...the blockade runners had stopped running...at NY
we saw 3 US Men of War...". The others are headlined at St. John's, Nfld
Oct 18, 1864, Nassau Dec 18, 1864 & Bermuda May 17(1865). In addition, 3
letters w/o cover are incl: headlined Bermuda, May 17, 1865 & May 18, 1865
