which has a tear at UR, is rated 4 Stg (Red) for sea postage to Halifax,
N.S. bs. The Ireland Isle Bermuda cds bs is dated Dec 26, 1863. The
enclosed letter is headed H.M.S. Medea & includes much Maritime content. A
choice showpiece & probably the finest strike of this rare postmark extant.
Only three covers are recorded to Halifax (all from this correspondence),
the others to the UK. |

Rare PAID at Ireland Isle Bermuda crowned circle hs (R. Lowe states that 6
exist - this, with 2 others, are from a new find). The cover is rated 4
Stg (Red) for sea postage to Halifax, N.S. bs. The Ireland Isle Bermuda cds
bs is dated Mar 15, 1864. The enclosed letter is headed H.M.S. Medea &
mentions the names of many Naval vessels laying in harbour. Only three
covers are recorded to Halifax (these all from this correspondence), the
others to the UK. An additional cover front rated 4 Stg (Black) (but
without a pmk) from this correspondence accompanies. A choice showpiece.
The other cover from this correspondence realized $8500.00 in our Sept 1999
