card by "Washington, D.C./Apr 19/1930" machine cancel, addressed to New
York, proper cachets and backstamps, light vertical toned band not
affecting stamp, otherwise very fine.
#C14, $1.30 Graf Zeppelin, tied to flown first
day cover by "Washington, D.C./Apr 19/1930" machine cancel, addressed to
Philadelphia, proper cachet and backstamps, very fine.
#C14, $1.30 Graf Zeppelin, tied to flown first
day card by "Washington, D.C./Apr 19/1930" machine cancel, addressed to
Davenport, Iowa, proper cachets and receivers, fresh and very fine.
#C15, $2.60 Graf Zeppelin, bottom plate no. 20092
single tied to flown first day cover by "Washington, D.C./Apr 19/1930"
machine cancel, addressed to Toledo, proper cachets and backstamps, cover
roughly opened at left and with some toning, the stamp is very fine.
#C16, 5c Violet, block of four tied to first day
cover by "Washington, D.C. Navy Dept. Sta./Aug 19/1931" duplex pmk.,
unaddressed, very fine; the only known example of this stamp with this
cancel.
#C17, 8c Olive Bister, lot of twelve September
26, 1932 first day covers, cachets include Hacker, Heinrich, Roessler,
Tatum, and Fairway (Alexandria unofficial cancel), unofficial towns and a
couple Naval cancels, also one Aug. 7, 1932 predate, mainly very
fine.
#C18, 50c Graf Zeppelin, tied to first day cover
by "U.S.S. Cormorant/Oct 5/1933" and matching "Washington D.C." in bars
pmk., with F.R. Rice cachet (Planty #2) at left, some really trivial
surface rubs at left, still very fine; reportedly unique with this cachet
and postmark.
#C18, 50c Graf Zeppelin, tied to first day cover
by "New York N.Y./Oct 2/1933" machine pmk., with Ed Hacker cachet
(Planty #3) at left, uncommonly fresh, extremely fine; one of the
scarcest of all the #C18 cachets.
#C18, 50c Graf Zeppelin, tied to first day cover
by unofficial "S.S. Bremen U.S. Ger. Sea Post/2 Oct/1933" duplex pmk., with
Linprint cachet (Planty #8), addressed and serviced by Sanders,
choice very fine; an exceptionally rare if not unique unofficial
postmark.
#C18, 50c Graf Zeppelin, tied to flown first day
cover by "Akron Ohio/Oct 4/1933" machine pmk., with Linprint cachet
(Planty #8), flown on the scarcer Seville flight, very fine.
#C18, 50c Graf Zeppelin, tied to first day cover
by "New York N.Y./Oct 2/1933" machine pmk., with very scarce Poppenger
cachet in green, at left, faint cover bend at top right affects stamp,
otherwise very fine; a seldom seen cachet.
#C18, 50c Graf Zeppelin, tied to flown first day
cover by "Akron Ohio/Oct 4/1933" machine pmk., with beautiful
multicolored Barbara Montgomery add-on cachet, extremely fine with
great eye-appeal.
#C18, 50c Graf Zeppelin, six first day covers,
one from Akron, others from New York, one with a block of four, others with
singles, four are flown, three with cachets (Anderson, Ioor, Roessler),
very fine; also includes an uncounted non-FDC with Roessler cachet.
#C19, 6c Orange, tied along with 5c Roosevelt to
first day cover by "San Francisco Calif./Jun 30/1934" machine pmk., red
National Bakery corner card, sent to Germany, air post stamp with
fault from overlapping at top edge, cover with some faint soiling from
being commercially used, very fine appearance; this San Francisco first day
usage is unique, in addition to being an extraordinary usage paying the
correct rate to a foreign destination.
#C19, 6c Orange, tied to first day cover along
with 2c Washington by "Baltimore Md/June 30/1934" handstamped duplex, with
F.R. Rice cachet in red and silver (Planty #1B), very slight edge
soiling of little consequence, very fine; reportedly the only known
example of this cachet on a June 30 first day cover.
#C19, 6c Orange, tied to first day cover along
with 2c Washington by "New York, N.Y. GPO/Jun 30/1934" duplex and black
mark at top, Harry Ioor cachet (Planty #13), very fine; only
three examples of this cachet have been reported.
#C19, 6c Orange, tied to first day cover along
with 2c Red Cross by "Baltimore Md./Jun 30/1934" handstamped duplex, with
Harry Ioor cachet (Planty #21), very fine; 1977 AFDCS certificate.
#C19, 6c Orange, tied to first day cover along
with 2c Red Cross by "Baltimore/Jun 30/1934" handstamped duplex, with
Harry Ioor cachet (Planty #GP1), fresh and extremely fine; cacheted
examples from Baltimore are quite scarce.
#C19, 6c Orange, nine first day covers, two are
June 30 from Baltimore (both with AFDCS certificates), six are cacheted
July 1 from Baltimore, Newark Airfield, New York or Washington (one with a
block of four), one from U.S.S. Reuben James, very fine lot.
#C20-22, 20c-50c China Clipper, fourteen first
day covers, four cacheted #C20 including one from Newark Airfield, six
cacheted #C21 or C22 including three with blocks, two with #C21 and C22
