Large Die Proofs
Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
21 P 300P1-13P1 image#300P1-313P1, 1c-$5.00 1902-03 Regular issue, large die proofs complete, a magnificent matched set of approved large die proofs each die sunk on full sized cards measuring approximately 143x194mm, all signed as "Approved" for Bureau production by either Edwin C. Madden, Third Assistant Postmaster General or J.K. Reeve, Superintendent of the Stamp Division; this set was obviously once bound in a presentation album, as each proof has traces of some type of hinge strip at the far left edge having been removed (occasionally slightly skinning the card), the 1c and 13c proofs have minor flaws in one corner of the mounting card, well away from the large die impression, overall a wonderfully fresh and clean set that possesses tremendous eye appeal, very fine; unique as a complete set of approved large die proofs.
