Very much an old time collection on quadrille pages housed in a Simplex album with well over two hundred stamps, mint and used, starting with the Nyassa overprints on Mozambique definitives with good completion mint and used, the 1901 giraffe and camels series complete mint and used including 13 inverted centers ,(#26/38var, with the ludicrously low Scott retail of $50 each), followed by the 1903 surcharges with thin numerals complete mint (#44/46), etc. Then lots of interesting 'republica' o/ps and surcharges to investigate, as well as highly unusual non-Scott listed items prepared for use in Nyassa yet never officially issued. A collector's collection with scarce material present that gets better on each inspection. Please study carefully page for page allowing sufficient time to view properly, much more here than described.
One man's lifetime work in the best of quality housed on old fashioned quadrille album pages, mint and used. Periodically this collector has accompanied the pages with diagrams illustrating the different printings and constant varieties, from their respective positions in the sheet. There are a few 100 stamps here, all imperforate four margined, including multiples. The Moldavia-Wallachia has tete-beche on each denomination, followed by the 1865 Prince Alexandru definitives again uniformly excellent condition with each denomination represented, including laid papers and various multiples. Then the Prince Carol imperforate issues, highlights including mint blocks and pairs of the 10 bani as well as singles of the 5, 10 and 15 bani, the latter 3 values identified by a dozen examples reflecting the broken letter and frame varieties, all extensively researched. Also seen the 1866/67 issues again with every denomination present with shade varieties, as well as superb double concentric circle cancels, colored cancels, varieties, just an absolute delight to view, often there are wing marginal and sheet corner examples, also blue diamond fancy cancels, straightlines, horseshoe, small towns, etc. Unquestionably this is one of the most attractive collections we have had the pleasure to offer from this country. Please study the photoplates to get a flavor of what is here. While is completely  ,without a catalog figure it wouldn't be that relevant anyway due to the highest caliber of quality in this outstanding collection. (Image)
Mint and used housed on old fashioned quadrille album pages, from early imperfs through to the modern era, with the latter having a good number of mint never hinged miniature sheets, perf and imperf some of which have very low printing numbers, adding up to a few thousand euro in Michel, waiting to be incorporated into the main body of the collection. The classics of the collection up to WWII are the best part with the ,19th ,century inc Moldavia Walachia imperfs inc 30par blue used (signed), Prince Alexandru 20 para orange mint and superb used in Bucharest (Bucuresti) in concentric circle cancel, Prince Carol types mint and used through to 50bani inc colored strikes, perforated of the same type through to regular defins King Carol ,1st ,with hundreds of these on various pages from both 1880s and 1890s definitive series, with a wide range of postmarks and specialised material to explore. Turn of the century also useful, for commems and defins including better 1906 mint #196 to #206 complete with 11 values and a similar pattern through to 1918 o/ps, as well as other back of the book. Then an indepth study of further defins of the 1920s with multiples and shade varieties through to semi-postals up to the modern era. An enjoyable collection to view with much more here than described, please inspect carefully page for page.
An extensive collection mint and used, housed in 2 albums, with several 100s of stamps. There is some pleasant duplication in the classics and the collection otherwise virtually all one of a kind, as assembled over many decades by the collector. Starting off with 1862 with four imperfs including subtle shade differences on the 6 para, all four margined examples, followed by the monarch types with the 2fr and 5fr orange and blue with the distinct possibility of further shades, similarly the 1866/67 young head imperfs through to 1868/72 with 20 imperfs, all used with a variety of cancels with values up to 50 bani, including colored cancels, the condition mixed as to be expected. Then the perf issues of 1872 with some superb copies present and excellent postmark interest right through to the turn of the century, again with many shades and superb cancels, 1903 pictorials to high values, etc. leading on to a useful range of WWI o/ps, through to WWII period inc. miniature sheets and lots of mint series, followed by some back of the book with German Occupation overprints non-Scott listed, etc. The second album deals exclusively with 'back of the book', with postage dues from the ,19th ,century onwards, including multiples and se-tenant pairs, then officials, postal tax, postal tax dues, etc. This is followed by extensive occupations with lots of errors inc. o/ps inverted, double, double one inverted etc, as well as revenues from the ,19th ,century onwards, etc, etc. A collector's collection with great potential especially in the ,19th ,century. Please inspect carefully,
An extraordinary collection of postal history recounting the alliances and allied operations through correspondence and commemorative postal stationery, mostly from the point of view of the Russian forces in France during World War 1. There are more than 140 items in all, beginning with an open letter of ,12th ,June 1916 from Marshal Joffre addressing the French ,2nd ,Army at Verdun, announcing the achievements of the Russians as allies and the importance of the courage and sacrifice of the Verdun force in support of these victories. This is handwritten and signed 'J. Joffre' is clearly important and offered on its own merits. Then follows a fabulous array of propaganda, a few of the highlights are a postcard from Paris to Rome sent Christmas Day 1917 with 10c sower on top of perforate label designed to frame the stamp with flags and mottos of Russia (motto in cyrillic), France, Britain and Belgium, a folded letter stationery envelope printed with &lsquo,Honneur aux Allies&rsquo, and flags with &lsquo,Vive la France&rsquo, and &lsquo,Vive la Russie&rsquo, on the front, sent December 1915 from a brigadier in the trenches to his girlfriend in Geneva with details of engagements with the &lsquo,Boches&rsquo,, with censor markings and tape and a Swiss 20c postage due applied alongside the 10cts sower! Then a spectacular series of cards with color illustrations of uniformed soldiers or cavalry of the various allies holding their respective flags, with combinations of 1 rouble Russian military stamps affixed, these with portrait of the Tsar in various colors all tied by 'France-Russie-Belgique-Angleterre, Campagne de 1914' postmarks. A series of different stationery items with the flags of the main allies as four-leaved clovers and many other designs, etc. Also seen moves on to mail bearing the large red postmark of the Russian Military Hospital in Paris and the purple cachet of the Russian Empress&rsquo,s automobile ambulance, followed by extensive stationery of the Russian Expeditionary Corps in France with a comprehensive study of the different types with both unused and used cards for each type, including fascinating examples of obliterations of the Imperial arms carried out after the Bolshevik Revolution. Other good items include a photographic postcard showing the funeral of a Russian officer in France, a fascinating small correspondence from a Russian officer to a lady in Lyon, with contents speaking of the succession of Alexis as Tsar and the events leading up to the Revolution, leading on to Russian POWs, and lots more military mail covering a wide range of areas for example 'Convois Automobile &ndash, Group Russe' on card from Venice, 'Section de Discipline Russe' on card from Algeria, etc, etc. This is a wonderful holding of seldom seen material that deserves more pleasurable research to produce an excellent exhibition standard collection. One of the most extensive and attractive collections we have ever seen of this area, with some items that could be irreplaceable. (Image)

Several hundred stamps mint and used, all one of a kind, housed on album pages specifically for Salvador although we noticed much material 'outside the box', making this a somewhat chaotic but interesting viewing. All periods are represented here, starting off with the volcano issues inc o/ps though to the allegorical figure type #A7 with lots of different series here, some Seebecks through to turn of the century. Page after page virtually complete including o/ps and no doubt specialised material present. Similarly early 1920s very well filled through to 1930s, discus throwers with and without hablitado o/ps, comprehensive 1940s/1950s with virtually everything complete through to the airpost, again with plenty of good series including those with low printing numbers, as well as more obvious such as athletics #C36 to #C40 complete, virtually all other pictorials, city charter m/s perf and imperf, 1949 UPU further m/s soccer, finally ending with the officials from 1896 onwards, again virtually complete with hundreds of different stamps here through to turn of the century, all different. Had this been any other country, this collection would have been worth multiples of our estimate and that clearly Scott retail grossly underestimates this material. A very attractive collection with much more here than first meets the eye.
