#305-E2, 306-E3, 308-E2, 6c, 8c and 13c Preliminary
black and blue green ink drawings by designer Raymond Ostrander Smith of
unadopted frame designs, a remarkable piece of kraft paper measuring
approximately 300x229mm with all three frame essays drawn on the same
sheet, the 6c and 13c designs are on one side (slightly overlapping) and
the 8c design is on reverse, the sheet of paper has been neatly folded in
half for display purposes, with a small tear in the center, very fine; a
spectacular essay showpiece, easily being one of the most important
drawings still to exist by the original designer of all the values of the
1902 Series; while the Scott catalog individually lists (and prices) each
of the three unadopted designs, they fail to mention that all three only
exist on this single unique sheet of paper. (image
