While starting in 1871, no value has been placed on the 19th century. Beginning therefore with a selection of turn of the century definitives, there are a few postal history items such as the American Fleet propaganda card, another postcard used in Korea to Uruguay with chrysanthemum issues the 3 sen rose and 1/2 sen gray pair (used on the photograph side), certainly an attractive item of Japan used in Korea to an unusual destination, also a small trans-Pacific correspondence, etc. Then follows a further selection of defins to 1 yen, from 1919 there is much completion inc. 1919 dove and olive branch mint complete, key series Kashima complete as well as partial series on cover with fancy cancel, also defins with 'I. J. Sea Post' cachet for the "Chichibu Maru" and further special cancels. Then 1925 phoenix complete mint, high values Baron Maejima mint, the scarce coil pair of 1933, National Parks beginning 1936 with virtually every series here, through the war years, further defins, etc. Then something we have never seen before, a spectacular printing error on the 1947 Inauguration of the Constitution souvenir sheet with the cliche of the 50s rose brown shifted upwards and substantially out of alignment with the 1y ultra cliche - a fabulous looking item. The collection then goes on to lots of good s/s seen of the late 1940s inc. 'lady looking back', Nagano, Fuji-Hakone Park and much from the 1950s inc. better early defins s/s, etc. There are few empty spaces from the 1950s onwards and the collection also has high face value content, semi-postals also complete from 1937 followed by airmails inc. 1929/34 plane over lake Ashi complete mint, 1950 pheasants complete mint, etc, as well as fiscals, etc, etc. A solid very clean collector's collection with unusual material throughout and far better quality than normally encountered, a highly recommended viewing.
Substantial holding containing a diverse range of mostly mint never hinged material, virtually all ,20th ,century, on album pages, glassines, stockpages, mini files and folders etc. Besides a colossal face value on the thousands of mint series, blocks, souvenir sheets and sheetlets of the ,20th ,century, there is also good earlier ,20th ,century material needing presentation in parts of the accumulation. For example, there are commemoratives of 1915 and 1930 complete mint never hinged, many National Parks series all over the place including never hinged, as well as National Parks souvenir sheets, etc. All areas have souvenir sheets from the 1950s onwards with the vast majority again mint never hinged with light pleasant duplication. Also seen a little bit of postal history inc. 1948 Osaka Philatelic Exhibition souvenir sheet used on cover opened by censor, even a little Ryukyus present. This description is only an outline, as it represents not only an extensive new issue service, but also a wannabe dealer’s accumulation of material bought over 20 years of buying in auction and local stamp clubs. Dealers, this is a great lot, representing an opportunity to replenish stocks of good 20th century material inexpensively. It is a thoroughly recommended holding, please put this on your list of lots to view.
